Welcome to the PW 2010-2011 Year at First Presbyterian Church!

The Presbyterian Women meet each month for Bible study, mission planning, and socializing in circle groups. There are circle meetings taking place in the morning, afternoon, and evening to accommodate all schedules. Women needing child care or assistance to attend these meetings can call the office at 243-3732 or email:  1stpc.gccoxmail.com to arrange for these services.

This year the Bible study for the circle groups is The Horizons Bible study “Journeys Through Revelation, Apocalyptic Hope for Today”.   The author, Barbara R. Rossing, Lutheran pastor and Professor of Theology at Chicago, states “…Revelation can help guide the choices we make each day as we seek to live into the renewal that God has for the whole world”.  Louise Lawson Johnson, a PC(USA) minister, who “has a special love for studying and teaching the Bible”, authored “Suggestions for Leaders."  Artist, Martha Kelly, a life-long Presbyterian from Memphis, TN, created the illustrations for the study.  She is the artist-in-residence at Idlewild Presbyterian Church in Memphis.

The Presbyterian Women gather for luncheon or dinner throughout the year.  All the local PW Gatherings are held in the Fellowship Hall south of the sanctuary.  Program Coordinator, Helen Rigdon, arranges for the programs, dining and decorations.                                                                                                                       

+ The program for the September 28^th focused on the History of Eglin AFB.  The catered luncheon gathering began at 11:30 am.                      

+The Winter Gathering was January 25, 2011. The program was about the History of The Presbyterian Church in Scotland and Walton County, Florida.         

+The Annual Presbytery-wide PW Gathering took place Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Parkway Presbyterian Church, Panama City.  Attendees carpooled for the day long event.      

+The Spring Gathering is scheduled for May 24, 2011.  The program centers on The Birthday Offering Dedication and Installation of The PW Officer slate by The Florida Presbytery West District Coordinator.  Time and dining arrangements are pending.

All are invited to participate in the circle group Bible study meetings, the mission projects, the PW Gatherings, The Thank Offering and The Birthday Offering.
